A pirate
walks into a bar wearing paper towels wrapped around his head. He sits down
at the bar and orders some dirty rum. The
bartender asks. “What’s with the paper towels, buddy?” “Arrrr”
says the pirate. “I’ve
got a bounty on me head!”. Joke 2 BONNIE’S KITCHEN It’s
always hard for me to come up with new breakfast ideas-especially since
it isn’t my favorite meal of the day.
I KNOW it’s the most important meal, so I’m trying. Here’s
a couple that I like. 1
¾ c plain low-fat yogurt 2
T smooth peanut butter 1-2
T honey 2
large bananas, sliced 2
c lightly sweetened multigrain clusters In
a bowl, whisk together yogurt, peanut butter, and honey until smooth.
Divide half the yogurt mixture among 4 six-ounce glasses or custard
cups. Top with half the banana slices and half the multigrain clusters.
Repeat layers once. Serve immediately. Makes 4 servings. 1
c regular rolled oats 1
c quick-cooking barley 1
c bulgur or cracked wheat 1
c dried cranberries, snipped dried apricots, or raisins ½
c sliced almonds, toasted 1/3
c sugar 1
T ground cinnamon 1/4
t salt Fat-free
milk, optional In
a large bowl, stir together oats, barley, bulgur, cranberries, almonds,
sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cover tightly and store at room temperature
up to 2 months (stir or shake mixture before measuring). For
2 breakfast servings, in a small saucepan, bring 1 1/3 c water to
boiling. Add 2/3 c of the cereal mix. Reduce heat. Simmer, covered for
12-15 minutes or until cereal reaches desired consistency, stirring
occasionally. If desired, serve with milk. Makes four 2/3 c servings. Microwave
Directions: For
1 breakfast serving, in a 1 qt. microwave-safe bowl, combine ¾ c water
and 1/3 c cereal mix. Microwave uncovered on 50% power for 8-11 minutes
or until cereal reaches desired consistency. stirring once. Stir before
serving. If desired, serve with milk. Skeleton I was helping a buddy of mine, who is an orthopedic surgeon, move
into his new office, by using my car to help transport some of his
office equipment. I had decided to position his somewhat fragile display skeleton by strapping it into the passenger seat of my car. At one traffic light, the stares of the people in the car beside me
caused me to roll down the window and explain, “I’m delivering him
to a doctor’s office.” The other driver leaned out of his window and commented, “I hate to tell you this, but it looks like you may be a bit too
late!” SEE YOU SOON!!! |
